Dear Jack, Ho ho ho! It is Santa, writing from the North Pole. The elves and I have been going over the lists, and I wanted to write to you myself. I can hardly believe you are already 6! First, the good news: you have a kind heart, and I see it. I was so pleased to hear about you being gentle with the new baby. Now, a little secret between you and me. I think you can do even better at listening the first time. I am not worried one bit, because I know you can do it. My elf scouts will be cheering you on. Every kind thing you do makes the Christmas lights at the North Pole glow a little brighter. And yes, I did hear about a dinosaur set. I believe in you. See you on Christmas Eve!

With love and jingle bells,

Santa Claus

How the letter is made

Every letter is written stroke by stroke with a real pen, in real ink, on Santa’s letterhead. The pen is held by a writing machine, which is how we can write thousands of letters and still have each one be actual pen on paper. The envelope is addressed to the child in the same ink. See how it works.

Questions

Should a letter from Santa mention bad behavior?

Gently, and only one thing. Our encouragement letter opens with praise, names a single thing to keep working on, and ends with confidence in the child.
